UNITING THE WORLD THROUGH MUSIC AND FOOD

AN INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THE CREATION OF JOBS, WEALTH AND SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC STABILITY

Sponsorship Proposal

By the National Minority Business Council, Inc. www.nmbc.org

Uniting the World through Music & Food is a program of NMBC Global, the international arm of the National Minority Business Council, Inc. (NMBC), that addresses the challenge and importance of music, food and entertainment to contribute to global development through initiatives in entrepreneurship and innovation. The NMBC’s 40-year history includes developing, partnering and supporting innovative programs in the U.S. and overseas to enable small, minority and women-owned businesses to effectively compete and grow.

THE PROGRAM

Under our Uniting the World through Music & Food program, we propose an annual series of three-day music and culinary festivals featuring internationally recognized performing artists, and culinary practitioners and experts. The events will be promoted worldwide to attract large numbers of visitors.

The Africa series will begin in Dakar, Senegal, between January and February 2013, and will continue across East and Southern Africa and on to China and the U.S. The events will be recorded and made available as content for broadcast and through CDs, DVDs and On-Line in order to sustain the message beyond the Festival performances.

Rooted in its commitment to entrepreneurship, NMBC Global will use the proceeds of the festivals to ensure that solutions are found to many of the social and economic problems now facing communities here in the U.S. and overseas.

An experienced group of professionals in the international music, food and entertainment industries will join NMBC professional staff to guide the development and implementation of the program to achieve long term viability.

SPONSORSHIP

By supporting the Uniting the World through Music & Food program, sponsors have the unique opportunity to reach hundreds of millions of potential customers worldwide with the message of unity around two things common to all of us: music and food.  The philanthropic and humanitarian goals will be met working through NMBC, a 40 year old membership not-for-profit organization, while commercial linkages are developed across Africa and China and the U.S. in industries such as media, entertainment, food and agriculture. These regions represent major consumer markets.

As an annual event, sponsors will be able to develop short to medium term marketing and advertising strategies to meet their particular goals in the established U.S. market as well as the emerging markets of Africa and China.

RELATIONSHIP CAPITAL

We respect the value of relationship capital. It is with great pride that NMBC Global continues to build on old relationships as we engage new ones and while building  entrepreneurial bridges across continents. Our partners in this venture include:

  • The Network Journal (www.tnj.com) – a leading New York business publication and longstanding partner in programs such as the TNJ/NMBC Entrepreneurship Boot Camp.
  • Sunsplash Productions – co-founder of the Reggae Sunsplash festivals, has been a member of the NMBC Global team for many years.
  • Chef Pierre Thiam – a renowned name in African cuisine, restaurateur, and author is the new member to the NMBC Global family.

For festivals in China and the U.S., we will partner with others in the music and food industries as the program develops.
